Black Thunder: Evil Kate (Part 1)

Hey Everybody! This is Skai, I know it's been a while. I have several new stories to share and will try to post once a week THIS SUMMER! Somethings will be done differently. I have taken up writing fan fictions in addition to my original works. Those will NOT be posted here. Instead I will create a post which will have a link to a fan fiction website every time I publish one.

A little bit of background on this piece. When the first episode of this story was written, I put it into something similar to a "Comic Book Script" to enter it in a writing contest. That was the form the contest wanted. I fell in love with this tortured, powerful soul and since I have written four short stories about her keeping the "comic book script".  If you haven't read the first story you can find it here http://inspirationalskai.blogspot.com/2016/05/black-thunder-day-of-living-nightmare.html. This is the third story and it builds upon the previous two.

Now here is another installation our favorite moody teenage superhero.

Black Thunder: Evil Kate

Inside a dark abandon building, a figure lurked in the darkness. Outside Black Thunder raced through the twilight sky. She blew the door open with her thunderclap. Black Thunder landed so that she stood in the elegant but dilapidated front room.

She called out: Katie!

Worried, she called out again: Katie!!!

An eerie voice spoke from behind the curtain above a once grand staircase.

Eerie Voice: Black Thunder, I knew you would come.

The eerie female voice took another step, casting a long shadow on the wall.

Eerie Voice: All you superhero types are the same.

Black Thunder screams: Where’s—The girl you have!

Eerie Voice stopped behind another shade: Patience! You’re not really a hero, are you, Black Thunder?

Black Thunder: I’ve faced worse than you.

The lady stepped behind another curtain next to the banister.

Eerie Voice: No, you haven’t. I know all about you. I know the powerful Black Thunder is nothing more than a scared little girl!

Black Thunder stepped forward on to an “X” on the floor. She looked nervous.

Black Thunder: Who are you?

The Eerie Voice started: Why, Black Thunder…

She stepped to the top of staircase elegantly holding the banister in one hand and a rope in the other to reveal herself. Clad in a long black dress and stiletto heels looking elegant and evil was Katie.

The Eerie Voice/Evil Kate: I’m your best friend.

The chandelier above begun to wobble and creak, then crashed to the ground. Black Thunder laid still under the chandelier.

Evil Kate laughed manically.

Twelve Hours Earlier.

Katie laid asleep on a table outside in the school courtyard. Carter approached her.

Carter: Kitty?

She woke up startled. She jumped up screaming.

Katie: For the last time! It’s Katie! Not Kitty! And I don’t know where the little brat who kept me up all night is!

Coming out of a vivid dream she sat up rubbing her eyes.

Katie: Uh…Katie. Lei’s not here yet, Carter.

Carter (Bewildered): Are you okay?

Katie: I guess. Lei’s sleeplessness must be rubbing off.

Carter (Concerned): Lei’s not sleeping?

Katie (Rambling): When everything happened, she wasn’t. And then she was, briefly. But now she isn’t again. Except last night. She slept because I stayed with her all night. (Realizing she’d said too much) I can’t believe I just said that.

Carter: Lei’s hasn’t been sleeping?

Katie: Please don’t let Lei know I told. I have to go.

Katie leaves Carter standing alone by the table.

Carter (thinking): Now Katie’s disappearing too.

Black Thunder landed by the side of school.

Black Thunder (thinking): I’m almost late for school.

She turned invisible and made her way inside. In front of the lockers she bumped into someone as she invisibly pulled her shirt over her. She stands in the back of the class as she changed still invisible.

The teacher stood up front.

Teacher: Lei Song’s not here yet, again!

Lei stood at the back of the class, fully clothed and visible.

Lei: I’m here!

Teacher (sighing): Come and sit down.

Katie looked at Lei, shrugging her shoulders.

At lunch Katie sat down and Lei sat next to her at a table. Both of them were eating macaroni and cheese.

Lei: Mac and cheese! Best Food Ever!

Lei’s phone, set next to her food, beeped. Picking it up and looking at it, Lei read the notification.

Lei: I have to go.

Katie: What is it this time?

Lei: A bunch of animals escaped the from their enclosures at the zoo last night.

Katie: Lei, let the zookeepers handle it. Wild animals are dangerous.

Lei: I know that Katie, but two zookeepers have already been hurt. I’m faster than a cheetah and stronger than a gorilla. I can get the animals back into their cages in no time.

Lei ate the rest of her mac and cheese and left.

Katie: Be careful Lei, animals aren’t like people.

Black Thunder landed at the zoo amidst some enclosures and zookeepers.

Black Thunder: How can I help?

A female zookeeper spoke first: Someone escort this child in a cape out of here.

Black Thunder flew above the group.

A zoo ticket salesman, probably a teenager spoke next: Zookeeper Jen, this is Black Thunder. She can help.

The zookeeper: Okay, I’ve never seen animals act like this. When Dan got here this morning all the animals had been let out of their cages.

Black Thunder: And some keepers got hurt trying to get them back?

The zookeeper: Yes, the animals aren’t responding to the normal techniques.

Black Thunder: Have your keepers focus on the smaller animals, let me handle the bigger ones.

She flew off to take care of the animals. First, she spotted a lion sneaking up, about to pounce on some tortoises. The lion pounces and Black Thunder caught it in the air by the waist before it landed on the tortoises.

Black Thunder: Oh, no you don’t.

Lion: Roar!!!!!!!!!

Black Thunder set the lion back in its enclosure and flew away when she saw a cheetah trying to claw its way up a tree full of monkeys. She flew over to the tree of monkeys. She picked up a monkey and the rest climbed onto her. She flew away quickly. One of the monkey’s started to fall. Her eyes went wide at the thought of a money falling down to the cheetah below. The monkey caught onto her leg before it could fall.

Afterschool Katie walked outside the school in the courtyard.

Katie (thinking): Lei said she’d be back by now. I wish she would have listened to me.

Carter strode up to her.

Carter: Katie…

Katie: I haven’t seen Lei since lunch, Carter.

Carter:  What! …no. Some of the guys are going for ice cream. I wondered if you might want to come…and Lei too.

Katie: Oh…uh, yeah. I’ll let her know and meet you there.

He walked away, and she stood there gazing at him.

She walked from school towards home. A shadowed figure jumped out from the shadow of a building, flashed her with a bright light and disappeared. She stood there dazed for a moment. She shook it off and smiled maliciously.
