"Bratz"

I found this old one. I wrote this piece ten years ago. There should be something new for next week!

Bratz

Recently, my mom, my little sisters, Anna and Rebecca, and I went to the post office because we had to deliver a package. At the post office, there is a very friendly mailman who has worked there since I was a baby. He is always very friendly to us whenever we go to the post office. While the mailman helped my mom, he made small talk and asked what grade me and my sisters were in. As we were leaving the post office, the mailman said, “Bye, brats.”

After my mom, sisters and I had walked out of the post office and were in the parking lot Rebecca asked, “Why did he call us Bratz?”  My mom said, “That was probably the first name he could come up with.” And then Anna added, “Yeah, we have never even played with Bratz.”

My sisters and I have never played with the Bratz dolls. We’ve always preferred the wholesome and yet recently slightly immodest Barbie dolls.

Black Thunder: Evil Kate (Part 3)

Black Thunder: Evil Kate (Part 3)

Black Thunder stood in the rhinoceros’ cage luring it back inside.

Noise: AWWW!!!!

A deep scream bellowed. Black Thunder flew above the zoo to see what it was. From above she saw an angry gorilla. A couple zookeepers were trying to calm it down. Black Thunder flew fast to get between the gorilla and the zookeepers. She landed hard, kicking up dust round her.

Black Thunder: Let me handle this gorilla.

The gorilla pounded his chest with his hands. Black Thunder pounded her hands on her chest and screamed. The gorilla screamed back. It sent Black Thunder’s hair flying away from her unmasked face. Black Thunder took off flying around the gorilla. The gorilla tried to smack her out of the air. She dodged. It tried again and hit her. Knocked out of the air she fell to the ground in a heap. She got back up angry.

Black Thunder (Enraged): I tried to play nice! I have had it!

Black Thunder: GET IN YOUR CAGE!!!

She punched the ground and it shook. Scared the gorilla headed off for its cage. Black Thunder smiled to herself hands on her hips. She took off flying now that the animals were secure. She flew above the ticket booth when a familiar voice called.

Carter: Black Thunder!

She stopped but thought about flying off since she’d lost her mask.

Carter: My friend’s in trouble. She needs your help.

Now invisible she landed before him.

Black Thunder: What? Who’s in trouble?!?

Carter: Katie! A girl from my school.

Black Thunder gasped. She covered her mouth with her hands to hide the sound.

Black Thunder: What happened?

Carter looked like he was about to answer when Black Thunder’s phone rang. She checked her (still invisible) phone. On her phone was a text from Katie. A picture of the abandon house from earlier. One word of text to the message: HELP!

Black Thunder: Never mind.

Black Thunder flew away before Carter could say anymore.

Cater: Wait! It’s not what you think!

But it was too late Black Thunder was long gone.

Black Thunder landed in front of the door to the house from earlier. The wind snapped her hair and cape back. She was still unmasked as she charged into the abandoned house.

Black Thunder: Katie! Where is Katie!

Evil Kate appeared from the shadows dressed in the dress she stole, stroking the stuffed cat.

Evil Kate: I’m your best friend.

The chandelier fell down on Black Thunder with a loud crash.

Black Thunder woke up groggy. Evil Katie leaned on the wall nearby stroking Lei’s stuffed cat.

Evil Kate: Good, you’re awake. It would have been easier while you were out, but it’s more fun to watch you squirm.

Black Thunder: What are you doing Katie! Is that storm!?!

Evil Kate: Don’t worry. I will make this as painless as possible.

She set the cat on Black Thunder’s lap. She was tied up with her hands separated, enclosed in her dampening gloves.

Black Thunder: Katie look at me. I’m your best friend.

Evil Kate circled her friend menacingly as she attached probes and wires to bare parts of her skin.

Evil Kate: You’re a superpowered, pale shadow of Lei Song!

Black Thunder: What are you talking about, Katie?

Katie walked over to a giant control panel.

Evil Kate: I want my best friend back!

She grabbed on to a giant lever. Before she could pull the lever, Black Thunder screamed.

Black Thunder: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Katie rushed over to her friend. She unfastened one of the restraints on her unconscious friend’s wrist.

Black Thunder pushed her friend clear cross the room. Quickly, she unfastened and pulled off her other restraints. Evil Kate stood ready to charge at her friend. Black Thunder removed her dampening gloves.

Black Thunder: The glovers are off!

Evil Kate: Doesn’t matter. I’ll still be taking your powers.

Black Thunder: And I’ll be taking you—OOOF.

Katie rushed her knocking them both over. With Black Thunder lying on bottom the levitated both of them into the air. She did a summersault and tossed her friend through the air. Katie stood and bolted for the stuffed animal on the nearby table. Black Thunder flew over beating her friend to the table, knocking it over with her landing. Katie picked up a nearby metal chair to swing it at her friend. Black Thunder was faster catching the chair before it could make contact. She broke the chair in half flinging Katie back. Katie got right back up and dusted herself off.

Evil Kate: I don’t know what Carter sees in you! You risk your life fighting supervillains without a second thought, but you’re too scared to face him!

Black Thunder stood confused. Evil Kate punched her in the face. Black Thunder twisted her head but was unhurt. She grabbed her friend by the shoulders and flew upward.

Black Thunder: Katie! Snap out of it!

Evil Kate: I’m not out of it. You are if you think having powers and putting on a costume makes you a hero.

Black Thunder (Gasped): Huh!

Katie headbutted her.

Black Thunder reeled back and let go of her friend. She watched frozen in terror as Evil Kate fell. Katie landed on her back with her eyes closed. Lei flew down to her friend’s side.

Black Thunder: Katie wake up!

Katie opened her eyes and looked around disoriented.

Katie: Lei, why are you in your Black Thunder outfit?

Relieved she started laughing.

Black Thunder: Come on, lets get out of here.

She picked up her disoriented friend in her arms and flew away.

It wasn’t until they were in the neighborhood that they spoke again. Katie looked at her flying friend.

Katie: Lei, I’m sorry.

Black Thunder looked at her friend surprised. She set her friend on her feet.

Katie: I was acting on every evil impulse I had. I couldn’t stop myself.

Black Thunder scowled at her friend.

Lei: Why did you do it Katie? You know what I am without my powers.

Katie: My best friend, Lei. We used to worry about boys, homework, and shopping. Now we worry about giant robots, supervillains, and saving the city. Lei, I don’t think I can do this much longer.

She looked more sad than mad.

Lei: I could not tell you about it!

She turned up her nose.

Lei: If you can, not talk to me!

Katie’s eyes went wide.

Katie: Lei, that’s not what I meant!

Lei had already turned around about to fly off.

Lei: You can get home by yourself from here.

Katie: Lei wait!

But it was too late. Black Thunder took off in a blur. She left Katie standing alone in the dark.

THE END...Until next time.

Black Thunder: Evil Kate (Part 2)

Thanks for reading. Please follow my blog to receive notifications when new stories are posted. Comments are greatly appreciated.

Black Thunder: Evil Kate (Part 2)

Black Thunder flew over the zoo looking for more animals. She spotted a cheetah running after some deer. She stopped and threw a thunder blast the cheetah’s way. It landed in front of the cheetah, stopping it. The cheetah looked at Black Thunder. She took off flying. The cat followed in pursuit.

Black Thunder (thinking): Katie’s said cheetahs can run up to sixty miles per hour, but they can only hold that speed for about a minute. If I can get it to chase me into the cage.

Black Thunder flew just out of reach of the running cheetah. The Cheetah chased her past some flamingos. They went past some trees. She led the cheetah back to its enclosure. The cheetah growled as Black Thunder flew.

Katie walked into the ice cream parlor she sauntered up to the table Carter and his friends sat at. She stood there briefly while most of guys looked at her, but Carter didn’t notice her. She sticks her finger into his ice cream bowl and licked the colorful ice cream off her finger.

Carter (Looking over questioningly): Hi Katie, Is Lei coming?

Katie gave him a nudge over in the bench.

Katie: Move over. Nope, Lei’s not coming.

She took another finger of his ice cream.

Carter: Did she say why?

Katie: Nope, I didn’t tell her.

Carter (surprised): Really, Kitty you didn’t tell her.

Katie jumped up serious.

Katie: How many times have I told you! Don’t call me Kitty! My name is Evil Kate!!!

All of the guys sitting at the table jaws dropped. Two of the guys started laughing. She slapped them across their cheeks, leaving red marks. They stopped laughing, and Carter was distraught.

Carter: Kitty stop it! What’s gotten into you?

She raised her hand to slap his face too but stopped short.

Evil Kate: Wouldn’t want to mess up your pretty face…more than it already is. Did you ever tell these guys about how you got that scar on your forehead?

She lifted his hair to reveal a nasty scar that went across his forehead. He grabbed her hand and pushed it away.

Evil Kate: About how you were so scared. Lei had to hold your hand while the doctor put in stiches.

Carter jumped up.

Carter: Katie! Stop it!

Evil Kate (laughing manically): Ha! Ha! Ha! When I’m done Black Thunder will be powerless to stop me.

Carter pushed to get around evil Kate.

Carter: Not if I warn Black Thunder first.

He ran off to go find Black Thunder.

Evil Kate picked up his ice cream and lifted a bite to her mouth to eat it.

Evil Kate: I doubt it. I know her secret.

She took a huge spoonful of ice cream and ate it.

The guys left sitting in the booth just stared at her.

Evil Kate: What are you looking at!!!

The guys all look away.

Evil Kate: I thought so.

Carter was out of breath when he reached the zoo ticket counter.

Person behind the ticket counter: Zoo’s closed. Get of here.

Carter: No, you don’t understand. I’m here to see Black Thunder.

Ticket counter person: Sorry, no one’s getting in, it’s not safe.

Carter: But I need to see Black Thunder. My friend’s in trouble.

Ticket Counter person: I suppose you can wait here. None of the animals have escaped the zoo.

Inside the zoo Black Thunder is being squeezed by a boa constrictor. She’s struggled to get free if its grip.

Black Thunder (thinking): I’m Starting to think Katie might be right. I’ve got to shake this snake. That’s it!

Black Thunder begun using her thunder power to vibrate the snake. The snake’s grip loosened as it slipped to the ground limply. Black Thunder slipped out of the snake. She picked up the snake heap and continued to vibrate it as she flew it back to its cage. After putting the snake back in its underground cage, she felt the ground shaking. She looked up at the shaking ceiling.

Black Thunder: What is that?

She flew through the tunnel leading above ground. She saw a rhino charging right for her. She moved just barely out of the way as it charged past her. She didn’t get quite far enough away, and the rhino’s horn snagged her cape. The motion pulled Black Thunder along through the air.

Black Thunder (screaming): AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Downtown Kate walked by a dress shop. In the window on a mannequin was the dress the she wore in the opening scene.

Evil Kate: I will destroy Black Thunder…but first a costume change.

She went into the dress shop. Pulling an extra Black Thunder mask out of her backpack, she stepped into the window. She undressed the mannequin. She immerged from the store carrying the dress on her arms.

Meanwhile, the sun was starting to set, and Carter still sat on the bench outside the zoo.

Carter (thinking): I don’t know how much longer I can want. Black Thunder’s in danger and Katie’s in trouble.

Walking up to a dilapidated, abandoned, old mansion Evil Kate thought.

Evil Kate: This would be the perfect place to destroy Black Thunder.

She went into the house, the door creaked behind her.

Black Thunder back at the zoo was still being dragged by the rhinoceros’ horn caught in her cape. She tired flying beside the rhino to get her cape unstuck. She gets in front of, but the cape doesn’t unstick choking her. She slows so she is again being dragged by the rhino. The motion knocked off her mask. She reached down to try to pick it up.

Black Thunder (Screaming): My mask!!!

Her actions got the rhino to turn around. It snapped around knocking Black Thunder’s cape off its horn.

She landed in a heap on the ground several feet from the rhinoceros. The rhino kept running. It trampled on Black Thunder’s mask crushing it. She wasn’t fast enough to stop him. Still lying on the ground, she screamed.

Black Thunder: No!!!

She picked herself off the ground ready to stop the rhino. She flew after him. Catching onto its horns she changed direction of her flight from upward to downward. The force pushed the rhino’s head into the dirt. Finally, the rhino halted to a stop in front of an animal enclosure. She released the rhinoceros and dusted off her gloves.

Black Thunder (angrily): That’s what you get for breaking my mask.

In the dark abandoned house Evil Kate tied off the rope which held up the chandelier.

Evil Kate: All tied up here. I need one more thing from Lei to make this perfect.

Evil Kate pulled open the window to Lei’s bedroom from the outside. She stealthily climbed into the room. She crashed into the floor making some noise. She crawled onto the bed and picked up Lei’s stuffed cat. The cat was white with black patches. She stroked the stuffed cat’s back.

Evil Kate: Now this will be the PURR-FECT crime.

Black Thunder: Evil Kate (Part 1)

Hey Everybody! This is Skai, I know it's been a while. I have several new stories to share and will try to post once a week THIS SUMMER! Somethings will be done differently. I have taken up writing fan fictions in addition to my original works. Those will NOT be posted here. Instead I will create a post which will have a link to a fan fiction website every time I publish one.

A little bit of background on this piece. When the first episode of this story was written, I put it into something similar to a "Comic Book Script" to enter it in a writing contest. That was the form the contest wanted. I fell in love with this tortured, powerful soul and since I have written four short stories about her keeping the "comic book script".  If you haven't read the first story you can find it here http://inspirationalskai.blogspot.com/2016/05/black-thunder-day-of-living-nightmare.html. This is the third story and it builds upon the previous two.

Now here is another installation our favorite moody teenage superhero.

Black Thunder: Evil Kate

Inside a dark abandon building, a figure lurked in the darkness. Outside Black Thunder raced through the twilight sky. She blew the door open with her thunderclap. Black Thunder landed so that she stood in the elegant but dilapidated front room.

She called out: Katie!

Worried, she called out again: Katie!!!

An eerie voice spoke from behind the curtain above a once grand staircase.

Eerie Voice: Black Thunder, I knew you would come.

The eerie female voice took another step, casting a long shadow on the wall.

Eerie Voice: All you superhero types are the same.

Black Thunder screams: Where’s—The girl you have!

Eerie Voice stopped behind another shade: Patience! You’re not really a hero, are you, Black Thunder?

Black Thunder: I’ve faced worse than you.

The lady stepped behind another curtain next to the banister.

Eerie Voice: No, you haven’t. I know all about you. I know the powerful Black Thunder is nothing more than a scared little girl!

Black Thunder stepped forward on to an “X” on the floor. She looked nervous.

Black Thunder: Who are you?

The Eerie Voice started: Why, Black Thunder…

She stepped to the top of staircase elegantly holding the banister in one hand and a rope in the other to reveal herself. Clad in a long black dress and stiletto heels looking elegant and evil was Katie.

The Eerie Voice/Evil Kate: I’m your best friend.

The chandelier above begun to wobble and creak, then crashed to the ground. Black Thunder laid still under the chandelier.

Evil Kate laughed manically.

Twelve Hours Earlier.

Katie laid asleep on a table outside in the school courtyard. Carter approached her.

Carter: Kitty?

She woke up startled. She jumped up screaming.

Katie: For the last time! It’s Katie! Not Kitty! And I don’t know where the little brat who kept me up all night is!

Coming out of a vivid dream she sat up rubbing her eyes.

Katie: Uh…Katie. Lei’s not here yet, Carter.

Carter (Bewildered): Are you okay?

Katie: I guess. Lei’s sleeplessness must be rubbing off.

Carter (Concerned): Lei’s not sleeping?

Katie (Rambling): When everything happened, she wasn’t. And then she was, briefly. But now she isn’t again. Except last night. She slept because I stayed with her all night. (Realizing she’d said too much) I can’t believe I just said that.

Carter: Lei’s hasn’t been sleeping?

Katie: Please don’t let Lei know I told. I have to go.

Katie leaves Carter standing alone by the table.

Carter (thinking): Now Katie’s disappearing too.

Black Thunder landed by the side of school.

Black Thunder (thinking): I’m almost late for school.

She turned invisible and made her way inside. In front of the lockers she bumped into someone as she invisibly pulled her shirt over her. She stands in the back of the class as she changed still invisible.

The teacher stood up front.

Teacher: Lei Song’s not here yet, again!

Lei stood at the back of the class, fully clothed and visible.

Lei: I’m here!

Teacher (sighing): Come and sit down.

Katie looked at Lei, shrugging her shoulders.

At lunch Katie sat down and Lei sat next to her at a table. Both of them were eating macaroni and cheese.

Lei: Mac and cheese! Best Food Ever!

Lei’s phone, set next to her food, beeped. Picking it up and looking at it, Lei read the notification.

Lei: I have to go.

Katie: What is it this time?

Lei: A bunch of animals escaped the from their enclosures at the zoo last night.

Katie: Lei, let the zookeepers handle it. Wild animals are dangerous.

Lei: I know that Katie, but two zookeepers have already been hurt. I’m faster than a cheetah and stronger than a gorilla. I can get the animals back into their cages in no time.

Lei ate the rest of her mac and cheese and left.

Katie: Be careful Lei, animals aren’t like people.

Black Thunder landed at the zoo amidst some enclosures and zookeepers.

Black Thunder: How can I help?

A female zookeeper spoke first: Someone escort this child in a cape out of here.

Black Thunder flew above the group.

A zoo ticket salesman, probably a teenager spoke next: Zookeeper Jen, this is Black Thunder. She can help.

The zookeeper: Okay, I’ve never seen animals act like this. When Dan got here this morning all the animals had been let out of their cages.

Black Thunder: And some keepers got hurt trying to get them back?

The zookeeper: Yes, the animals aren’t responding to the normal techniques.

Black Thunder: Have your keepers focus on the smaller animals, let me handle the bigger ones.

She flew off to take care of the animals. First, she spotted a lion sneaking up, about to pounce on some tortoises. The lion pounces and Black Thunder caught it in the air by the waist before it landed on the tortoises.

Black Thunder: Oh, no you don’t.

Lion: Roar!!!!!!!!!

Black Thunder set the lion back in its enclosure and flew away when she saw a cheetah trying to claw its way up a tree full of monkeys. She flew over to the tree of monkeys. She picked up a monkey and the rest climbed onto her. She flew away quickly. One of the monkey’s started to fall. Her eyes went wide at the thought of a money falling down to the cheetah below. The monkey caught onto her leg before it could fall.

Afterschool Katie walked outside the school in the courtyard.

Katie (thinking): Lei said she’d be back by now. I wish she would have listened to me.

Carter strode up to her.

Carter: Katie…

Katie: I haven’t seen Lei since lunch, Carter.

Carter:  What! …no. Some of the guys are going for ice cream. I wondered if you might want to come…and Lei too.

Katie: Oh…uh, yeah. I’ll let her know and meet you there.

He walked away, and she stood there gazing at him.

She walked from school towards home. A shadowed figure jumped out from the shadow of a building, flashed her with a bright light and disappeared. She stood there dazed for a moment. She shook it off and smiled maliciously.
