Elina was out for hours.
She awoke early the following
morning, before sunrise. At first she was startled to find herself in the dark.
After she using her powers for a little light she was surprised to find herself
in a hospital bed hooked up to several machines, with an iv in her arm just
above a cast. Reminded of a movie where the hero ended up in a similar
predicament, she looked for her medical charts. She was in luck as a doctor had
actually left them on the tiny table next to her bed. She opened them; the
first thing she looked for was the patient's name.
“Jane Doe," it read. Reading father she noticed the
doctors had guessed her age as between thirteen and sixteen years. She
continued to the diagnosis; left arm broken in two places, and a head trauma that
had caused her to loose consciousness, they didn't find any brain damage. They
would keep her under observation, at least until her family could be found.
Elina was
uncertain what to do. No one knew where she was. She didn't actually know where
she was, but if she was going to make a run for it she'd only have seconds
after removing the monitors. She used her good arm and ripped out the IV.
Heating up her left arm, she disintegrated off the plaster cast. She winced at
the tremendous pain shooting through her arm up her spine. The IV must have at
least been a pain killer. She was still in full fairy attire, a hospital gown
had simply been thrown over it. She thought she could fly out the window, but
she didn't know if she could get out before someone came in. She decided her
best chance was to walk out the front door, as if nothing had happened, or
better yet like she was there only to cause trouble. She transformed into her
normal attire and ripped of the monitors. She stepped out of bed and found her
skateboard lying on the floor next to the bed. "That's odd," she
thought and picked it up.
She ran out
the door, then causally walked to the stairs. By the stairs someone saw her and
called out, "Miss what are you doing here?" So she took off, running
for the stairs. She heard commotion coming from her room, as the nurse on duty
found Jane Doe had disappeared.
Elina was down in the patient
visiting area when she spotted a cart with miscellaneous medical supplies. She quickly
spotted what she wanted. Walking by on the right she snatched a roll of
bandages used for wrapping sprains. Then she left the hospital. She
shoved the bandages in her pocket and skateboarded away.
Outside Elina, greeted only by orange streaks in the sky, knew it would be a long day.
