Fairy Troubled: A Girl Power Adventure (Part 10)

Horrified screams awoke her this time. Elina looked down at the blanket to find Violet missing. For a second she looked around wondering where a two month old could go, then another scream clued her in. The window she'd left a jar was now wide open. “The Dark Fairy," she hissed. Transforming into her fairy costume, she ran to the window and flew out. Fifty feet above The Dark Fairy was holding a screaming Violet in her arms.
"The poor Fairy," The Dark Fairy laughed, "I saw you hauled away last night.
Frankly I'm surprised you’re still kicking."
Elina rushed towards her, uncertain if she should attack or not, closing the distance between them. “Give me back my sister!" She demanded, and then added, "She’s never done anything to you!"
“You're wrong! She's your sister that was supposed to be my pleasure." Her words were like icy darts, and sent chills down Elina's spine.
“I can have more than one sister. My best friend has three brothers," Elina insisted.
“We were separated, possibly at birth. You've got a nice cozy family. Me, I've never had anyone."
"Sister, no, I'm your family. Tell me your name or why you hate me. We can work through it together. But not at powers point. We could sit down like reasonable human beings."
"We're not human beings. We're fairies. There is no reason to us."
"You’re right. We're only half human, otherwise we'd have wings. Our bodies are much more delicate than humans or fairies, because we aren't completely natural," Elina paused. "When I fell yesterday, I broke my arm in two places. It hurts like crazy, and because of the awkward position I'm in I can't tell anyone."
Surprisingly that calmed the Dark Fairy down.
Elina continued, not sounding as mad, "Give me back Violet. She's my sister, like you are my sister too. That might even make her, like, your sister too. My name's Elina. I'd like it if we could be family."
Suddenly enraged, "Elina, that's a joke. That's my name." The Dark Fairy laughed, her demeanor was crueler than before, “I'll never be your family. In fact, I will always hurt them. They'll never be safe while you're around. I hate you." With that she dropped Violet, and flew off. Elina raced against gravity rushing to catch her sister, to save her from falling. The ground was rushing up at tremendous speed. Elina caught Violet long before they would have hit the ground. Violet despite the tremendous ordeal, and her being so little, was unharmed. Elina was more shaken by what had happened than Violet ever could have been.
"Let's not tell Mom, Vi." Elina returned to the hotel room through the window and closed it, with lots of excruciating pain as the adrenaline had begun to wear off. Laying her sister back on the blanket, she took another Ibuprofen.
Her prospective clearer than it had been all day. She realized she had to stay. Despite the pain and challenges, she'd been chosen. It was her job to protect people especially her family. Even her identical twin with an identical name. She had to train to protect the people she cared about. She might have to down play her injury and fight to stay strong, but it was for her family.
As she curled up once again next to her sister on the bed, she felt at peace, in spite of her circumstances.

Once Upon a Time: On Broadway

I know it has been a while. Here is a new story. Happy Thanksgiving!

Once Upon a Time: On Broadway
Once upon a time there was a little girl with a big dream. She wanted to be a Broadway singer. When she was little she would watch musicals, learn all the lines. Practice all the songs. Without a doubt in her mind when she grew up she would move to New York to become an actress.
Only as this little girl grew she lost her vision. She got distracted by school and boys. And constantly looking for her parents’ approval. They wanted her to go to college, and get married…and have a family. If not on purpose, they convinced her that only crazy people are on Broadway.
So she grew up and didn’t go to Broadway. She went to community college and then to a nearby university. After graduating from college she got a job as a news reporter.
She spent years reporting everything that everyone else accomplished. Years past without any change. She woke up each morning, went to work, came home, and went to bed. The following day she did it again. Her vacations and free time was spent with friends or family, traveling or having fun.
One day, after she had started dying her hair to cover grays and smothering her face with anti-aging cream, she was on her way to work listening to a musical she used to sing with as a little girl. All her old dreams and plans came flooding back to her. Along with regret. She couldn’t comprehend how she had let the years slip away.
Not long after that she quit her job, moved out of her apartment, and packed her car with only the possessions she would need. And she left for New York. She left the happiest she had been in a long time even though she didn’t know what challenges lay before her.
It is still unknown if she made it to New York, or ever got on a Broadway show. She left only yesterday. The rest of her story remains to be written.
